Italy, Veneto, Negrar
Grapes: 50% Corvina veronese and Corvinone, 50%Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc.
Color: intense ruby red
Fragrance: fruity, evoking a wide range of fruits
Taste: medium texture with a good, well balanced tannic pattern
Once picked, the grapes are left to further ripen for one month in wooden boxes. This process is to enhance the expression of a full and round bodied wine. After pressing and fermentation, the wine remains in Slavonian oak barrels for more than one year.
The wine opens to easy aromas of dark fruit, button mushroom, spice, tar and grilled herb. This is an upfront, food-friendly wine that has the crispness and delineation to pair with pasta or meat dishes. It should last healthily over the next five to eight years.
AG=89 The 2018 Primofiore wafts up from the glass wonderfully fresh and fruity, showing rosy florals, wild strawberries, green peppercorns, and hints of sweet spice. This is silky in texture, with a hint of savory herbs upfront, before further evolving to display tart wild berries with a subtle twang of sour citrus, which frames the experience nicely. The long, perfumed finale resonates with floral-tinged red and hints of blue fruit. This blend of 50% Corvina Veronese and Corvinone to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc is so incredibly pretty. Primofiore is matured for two years in cask and intended to be a more fruit-forward expression of Quintarelli.
