The Château Laguiole sommelier knife was created in 1993 by Master Sommelier Guy Vialis and was the first true waiter style Laguiole corkscrew on the market. Since the Château Laguiole brand has been launched, it has been the favorite among the world's best sommeliers and, at this day, is the most sold of all high end waiter style Laguiole wine openers.

The concept has been revisited in 1996 and the function of this already very efficient French corkscrew has been improved The most notable improvements reside in its construction. The bee is now forged and has become an integral part of the spring top. The liners, also known as plates are now thicker to prevent warping and the bottom bolster has been strengthened and has lost its two decorative lines to enhance the purity of the design.
